Studio

From the studio chair.

Mantap exists to care for tattoos and the people who make them. We start from what the natural world already knows, and from the jamu tradition that has been listening to it for generations.

  1. 01

For the art and the artists.

Tattooing is art. The people who make it deserve tools made with the same care as their work. Mantap starts in the studio, with them, and grows from there.

  2. 02

    Jamu, as a tradition.

Jamu is Indonesian knowledge: mixed by hand, shared in kitchens, passed down. We work with jamu makers and honour how they do it. Simple botanicals, made with patience.

  3. 03

The chicken knows more than the cobra.

Backyard wisdom, not big promises. We tell you what is inside and what it is for. The rooster handles the rest of the noise.

  4. 04

The trees are smarter than petroleum.

Wherever we can, we choose plant oils and waxes over petroleum. Trees have been working on this a lot longer than we have.

  5. 05

    Indonesian, with a grin.

Bali is our home and our kitchen. A loud rooster is our mascot. We take the work seriously and ourselves lightly. That is what mantap means.

From intention to form

ConceiveCreateManifest

Mantap begins as an idea worth caring for, is made properly with the right people, then goes out into the world: good care, from a good tradition, for the good people who make the art.

Mantap is cosmetic care for tattooed skin and for the tattooing process. No miracle claims.
